Just when we thought the Pogues were about to take another L in their treasure hunt, the Outer Banks Season 3 finale delivered a major win for John B. (Chase Stokes) and his friends. Not only did they at last get their hands on the gold, but they got their hands on the gold from the fabled city of El Dorado itself. 

So what's the next hunt for the Pogues? At the ceremony celebrating their discovery of El Dorado, a man approached John B. and his friends. This man had one goal in mind, and that was to uncover the truth behind the journal of Edward Teach — more commonly known as Blackbeard. Still, we don't know for sure yet if this age-old diary will kick off the Pogues' next treasure hunt in Outer Banks Season 4. After all, they've suffered serious consequences. John B. and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) watched their fathers die, and treasures like the Cross of Santo Domingo — especially dear to Pope's (Jonathan Daviss) family — have been entirely destroyed. 

"I would like to think that there's going to be quite a bit of hesitation of jumping back into a world where they've lost a lot collectively," Stokes told TV Guide in February. "I think there's now this newfound trust in one another to make the decision collectively and not just as a singular individual, and that goes for the entirety of the Pogues." If John B. and his friends do say yes to this man, and if Blackbeard's diary does become the center of Outer Banks Season 4, it likely won't happen without some extensive discussions.

At Netflix's Poguelandia fan event on Feb. 18, the cast announced that Outer Banks is renewed for Season 4. There's not much information just yet about the Pogues' next adventure, but here's everything we know so far.

At Tudum: A Global Fan Event on June 17, Netflix shared a sneak peek video of the cast getting ready for Season 4. One by one, the Pogues pose in front of the iconic Twinkie until we see them all gather in the van. Onto the next adventure!

Outer Banks Season 4 release date prediction

No Season 4 release date has been announced. And it likely will be a while before we hear about the season's production schedule, given the ongoing writers and actors strikes for fair wages. 

So though the wait between Seasons 2 and 3 was roughly a year and a half, it could take longer before the arrival of Season 4.
